The Mandalorian - this is the cake

I'm Claire, an amateur cake decorator, join me on my Caking Experience as I put my skills to the test @roperclaire.

My Star Wars mad 11 year old son wanted a Mandolorain cake for his birthday. So I got to work and whipped up some 2d fondant toppers.

“Stop touching things.”- The Mandalorian'

The first Grogu I made was eaten by a super naughty Mr Six, so I needed to remake it! I do think the first Grogu was cuter, but overall the effect still looked cool.

Fondant decorations

I based my fondant decoration on the cartoon image on the right, which is an image my son chose from google. He oversaw the colours and design to make sure it was done correctly. It took me about two hours from start to finish to create this effect, and I finished the design with hand painted design on the sword using white food colouring. I use Bakels Pettinice ready to roll coloured icing, it's locally available and has a great texture.

He was really happy with the end result and there was lot's of ohh and argh from his friends.

Chocolate Fudge Cake

The cake was one of my tried and test chocolate fudge cakes, with yummy cream cheese frosting. Sometimes I put fresh strawberries in, but this was an absolute No, from Mr 11 who wanted a 100% chocolate feast.
