How to deal with Over enthusiastic facebook friends

Social Media can have a reputation as being celebrity driven and self indulgent with people airing their dirty laundry. And I totally understand, when it comes to Facebook we've all got them, the friend that posts everything and anything about their life on a Daily basis. There comes a time when you just think enough is enough, stop posting every single detail of your life, I'm not bothered.

Here are three options you can choose to start filtering down the information which is shared on Facebook. For this example, I'm calling my friend Sharon. Unfriending Sharon is a little drastic, but there are three simple steps I can take which will stop the endless posts appearing on my facebook feed.

Hide Post

The first one is called "Hide Post" which essentially means I will stop receiving posts similar to this one. To find this option, simply go to the top right of the post, click the tiny grey arrow, and a menu will appear, select your choice.

Hide all from

This works particuarly well if like Sharon, your friend is always posting information from news sites, you can select the option "Hide All from "Name of Organisation" - stop seeing posts from this page". To find this option, simply go to the top right of the post, click the tiny grey arrow, and a menu will appear, select your choice.

Unfollow

The third option, "Unfollow Sharon - stop seeing posts but stay friends with Sharon". You guessed it, this means I stay friends with Sharon, but I no longer see her constant facebook updates. To find this option, simply go to the top right of the post, click the tiny grey arrow, and a menu will appear, select your choice. The choice is yours, you can to choose to unfriend Sharon, but I hope these three Facebook choices give you some options.
