During the school holidays the Porirua Library wanted to offer something different. Something magical. And more importantly, something that didn’t rely solely on Facebook.

Moving away from dependency on Facebook, we created a fresh online video experience for tamariki. Together, we designed a fun, engaging digital alternative that brought stories, music, and joy directly into homes — no matter the platform.

The Vision

We set out to create a central landing page that acted as the home for the school holiday video series. This page was linked with YouTube (for accessibility and reach) and the Porirua Library Children’s Chat Facebook Group (for community engagement for those wanting to use Facebook), allowing parents and caregivers to access all the content in one easy place.

Behind the Scenes

Each video was lovingly filmed and edited in partnership with our videographer. We worked closely with stakeholders, local entertainers, and businesses to co-create a library of diverse and magical content for kids. Think storytelling, interactive fun, music, and laughter — all made locally, for our tamariki.

We then uploaded the videos to YouTube and scheduled them to publish in alignment with a holiday timetable. The goal was to mirror the structure and excitement of a live school holiday programme — but make it accessible online, anytime.
