From Bedtime Books to Bold Podcasts: The Birth of Poopology

One evening, after tucking my youngest kids into bed, I read them their favourite book — the literary gem Here Comes the Poo Bus. In a moment of mature brilliance (and amusement), I snapped a photo of the book and sent it to my good friend Eve Laws.

That’s when something unexpected — and brilliant — happened.

Eve: Hahaha, I’m adding that to my reading list. I’ve been on that bus for a while. Actually, I’ve been thinking about creating a podcast, and that might be a seriously good name.

Me: It’s a great piece of literature: ‘Here comes the poo bus, sliding round the bend.'

Eve: That’s amazing. I love it. And just to prove I’m serious, here are my notes. Inspiration really does come from the strangest places!

Me: Chapter one: Different day, same poop — how to manage crappy expectations.

Eve:This is good sht! I’m doing a podcast in December — you need to be part of it.

Me: What’s the topic?

Eve: Business and life experiences. Poking fun at the ‘sht’ times we go through, with a strong focus on being a woman in 2019 — The Trials and Tribulations of Warrior Women.”*

And just like that — through a very mature (and productive) WhatsApp exchange — I was lucky enough to be invited into Eve’s bold, unfiltered vision: The Poopology Podcast.

What Is Poopology?

The brainchild of Eve Laws, Poopology is a raw, unapologetic space where women of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and identities come together to share the very real experiences of modern life. With a rotating mix of special guests and regular contributors, we dive into life’s messy, joyful, and challenging moments with honesty, humour, and heart.

My Role

I was proud to co-host Seasons 1, 2, and 5 — but also took the reins behind the scenes, leading the creative and digital direction of the podcast.

Social Media & Promotion

I designed all the promotional social media videos, using bold visuals, compelling audio snippets, and powerful quotes to capture attention across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

The content was deliberately raw and unfiltered — embracing a “homemade” vibe that matched the tone of the podcast itself. No glossy polish, just real conversations, real women, and a visual identity that felt accessible, authentic, and relatable. The goal was to create a space that felt like it belonged to everyone, not just a curated few.

Seasonal Specials

To keep the content fun and engaging, I created special themed videos for Halloween and Easter, helping bring the podcast’s personality to life and grow our audience through creativity and community interaction.

Why We Do It

Poopology is more than just a podcast — it’s a movement. A space for women to have real, open, and sometimes hilariously honest conversations. While we’ve lived interesting lives (we’re 40-ish and proud), we’re always learning from our guests — whether it’s topics we know deeply or those completely new to us.

We never intend to offend — our goal is to understand, to grow, and to uplift voices that deserve to be heard. And if we ever get something wrong, we’re open to feedback.

Poopology has been a wild, wonderful ride. I’m incredibly proud to be part of a podcast that encourages authentic dialogue, celebrates female empowerment, and turns the trials of life into conversations that inspire and connect. Because sometimes, the best stories really do start with a poo bus.
