Multi language video

Porirua is a diverse city, with nine pacific languages

across. I worked with a small team to create a video explaining the importance of the Long Term Plan. The main challenge was incorporating three languages into a 2 minute video. The Mayor, Deputy Mayor and a Councillor appeared, shot in various wards across the city. Working with the Digital Coordinator I incorporated best practice for subtitles, with three languages and set expectations for the stake holders.

Family lock down videos

During the New Zealand COVID-19 Lockdown in 2020, I wanted to capture a moment in time with my three (very active) children, and created a daily video diary of my children's activities. I captured their antics on my smartphone and using a mobile phone App called In-Shot I was able to quickly edit the video and upload to Facebook.

Check out some more of the videos here.

Te rā o ngā Tamariki | Children's Day

CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE STRATEGY:

As it's children's day, why not let the kids take the lead! We empowered a team of young people at our children's day event at Aotea Lagoon to take over Porirua City Council's social media platforms and create their own content to share in real time on the day. It was a fantastic result, and the kids (and parents) really enjoyed themselves.

Explainer Videos

About ten years ago, explainer videos were all the rage—every brand seemed to have a snappy, animated clip breaking down their product or idea in under two minutes.

They were fun, engaging, and a great way to simplify complex messages. Inspired by that old-school style, back in 2015 I created a quick one using a free online tool (called Sparkle): “14 Ways to Say Hello in Ōtaki.” It’s a playful nod to the past and a fun way to celebrate the diverse and vibrant ways people connect in our community.
